A former Lexington Police Department Detective and Officer, Tyler brings nearly a decade of police and investigative experience to his government and police law practice.
He represents law enforcement officers during critical incident and officer-involved shooting investigations, and defends the expanding area of lawsuits filed against police officers, such as excessive force, false arrest, malicious prosecution, illegal search and seizure.
Tyler served as a patrol officer and field training officer for three years before earning his detective shield. He spent six years as a detective in the LPD Bureau of Investigation, where he served in the Special Victims Section, Crimes Against Children Unit and Computer Forensics Unit. Tyler used his technical expertise as the Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) detective, where he investigated abuse allegations, reviewed and analyzed electronic records, used forensic tools to extract and analyze data from mobile devices and computers, and testified in court proceedings. He also served in the Bureau of Special Operations Hazardous Devices Unit, responding to calls involving hazardous devices, explosives, and suspicious packages. Tyler became a FAA certified drone pilot where he supported tactical and hazardous device missions with drone operations.
During law school, Tyler served as an intern for the Fayette County Commonwealth’s Attorney’s Office while continuing his full-time work with the Lexington Police Department.
