Emily B. Pence

Senior Associate

Emily brings a comprehensive legal background including civil litigation, insurance law, and healthcare law.

Emily represents governmental entities and law enforcement officers. Her police practice includes representing officers during critical incidents and officer-involved shootings. Emily also defends the expanding area of lawsuits filed against police officers, such as malicious prosecution, illegal search and seizure, false arrest, and excessive force.

During law school, Emily served as a law clerk for Chief Regional Circuit Judge Jeffrey Burdette in Somerset and Regional Circuit Judge Thomas Wingate in Frankfort. She also served as an extern in the Office of the Fayette Commonwealth’s Attorney, where she litigated under the supervision of Commonwealth’s Attorneys using her limited practice license.

Outside of work, Emily is very involved in the Lexington community. She is a member of the Junior League of Lexington and serves as Chair of the League’s Holly Day Market Board, which puts on the League’s fundraising market every year. Emily is also an accomplished musician and has been a member of the Lexington Singers for nearly a decade.

Plaintiff sued a Kentucky city as a result of an alleged fall on roadway. Successfully obtained summary judgment.
Plaintiff alleged slip and fall at a variety store. Obtained voluntary dismissal.
Plaintiff filed a wrongful death lawsuit against party hosts following a shooting on their property. Obtained voluntary dismissal.
